In partnership with Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET), COLEIN AID implemented the Her Choice, Her Right (HCHR) project in Atyak, Padea, and Paidha Sub Counties in Zombo District. The project aimed to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Violence Against Women and Girls (VAW/G), improve Reproductive Health Rights, and promote economic empowerment for women and girls, with men being engaged as strategic allies in the process.
Empowering women and girls is not just a goal, it's a movement that transforms communities, breaks cycles of violence, and builds a future where every voice is heard and valued.
Key Results Achieved:
Capacity building for 6 women’s groups and key stakeholders in response mechanisms to GBV and SRHR.
Supported the establishment of Zombo District GBV Referral Pathway.
Improved reproductive health rights and support services for women and girls.
Empowered 180 women economically through microfinance support, strengthening the role of men as allies in the process.
Established Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) for 6 women’s groups.
Conducted 16 village meetings to raise awareness on gender-based violence and reproductive health issues.
The project continues to strengthen the community’s capacity to respond to GBV and SRHR concerns, offering critical support to women and girls in the region.
