Access to Land Justice: Combating Climate Crises

COLEIN AID is implementing a two-year project to mitigate the effects of deforestation along River Ora in Zombo District. The project aims to restore wetlands, plant 12,000 indigenous trees, and promote improved cook stove adoption in four villages: Azinda, Mokori, Nding Nding, and Upobu, across Alangi and Atyak Sub Counties.

True progress begins when we empower communities to nurture the environment, uphold justice, and create opportunities for all.

Key Deliverables:

  • Raising community awareness about wetland restoration.
  • Establishing woodlots with indigenous fruit and environmental tree species.
  • Training women groups on making and using improved cook stoves.

Achievements:

  • Conducted 8 awareness meetings and produced 100 radio jingles on wetland restoration.
  • Established four nursery beds of indigenous tree species managed by women groups.
  • Empowered 120 households with improved cook stoves, reducing reliance on forest wood.
  • Enhanced community understanding of gender roles in woodlot management and conservation.
